Dr. Manal Mohammed Younus is a senior pharmacovigilance and medicines safety expert and the Director of the Iraqi Pharmacovigilance Center at the Ministry of Health. She has led the development and expansion of Iraq’s national pharmacovigilance system, including electronic safety reporting, regulatory guideline development, and alignment with WHO Global Benchmarking Tool requirements.

She is an Executive Committee member of the Council for International Organizations of Medical Sciences (CIOMS), a previous Advisory Board member of the International Society of Pharmacovigilance (ISoP), Vice-President of the ISoP Middle East Chapter, and co-founder of the ISoP Patient Engagement Special Interest Group. Dr. Younus is actively involved in WHO-led regulatory strengthening initiatives and contributes to international guidance, research, and training in pharmacovigilance, risk management, and patient engagement.

Dr. Younus is also an academic mentor and contributor to international research and education. She supervises postgraduate research in pharmacovigilance, contributes to peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, and regularly speaks at international conferences and regulatory training programs.

Through her leadership, technical expertise, and commitment to patient-centered safety, Dr. Younus continues to shape pharmacovigilance practice at national, regional, and global levels.
